The appointment of Josep Guardiola was a major gamble for the Laporta board, almost a last ditch effort to gain the support of Catalan fans with everything else tumbling down around them.
Half the board was gone, half the team looked finished prematurely and so Laporta with 'resign' ringing in his ears went for a coach with no experience of the top level but a favourite among the fans having been an integral part of the Dream Team. In fact Cruyff famously said when Guardiola left that 'now is the end of the Dream Team'.
So far Guardiola has amazed and dumbfounded with his team selections to the point in which fans aren't really sure whether the team has done well or badly. For sure bringing in the youngsters is a good move and Buquetts for example looks a great addition but so many changes has not helped the balance of the team. He has also refused to shift from the four-three-three formation which in the end was a nail in the coffin for Rijkaard who refused to change a system which had become overly predictable.
Having seen Guardiola so far, is he the right man to take the team foreward, I think that he will give the team a lot but his inexperience will cost points.
